Weekend Movies: Full out and Waffle Street

If you are looking for great comeback movies – these two movies are for you! Based on real life stories – a gymnast and a financier!

My take away from the two movies:

  • Never give up the thing that you are good in doing
  • In the midst of adversity, never stop helping and encouraging people
  • Don’t be afraid to have a fresh start! (Even if that means cleaning up a clogged toilet)
  • Never forget the people who were there for you when you were at your lowest
  • Find a life mentor/friend!

Holiday

Two long weekends in a row is just so so so so cool!

I’d never had such a restful weekend since the middle of the year. Two days of rest over the weekend were never enough. Not that I’m complaining, but just really happy that I get to enjoy another long weekend.

My roommie and I went to our favorite, “quiet” mall to just unwind. Had some Chinese for our late lunch, watched the movie, “Thor” which was really entertaining and did some little shoes and bread shopping.

I just thank God that tomorrow is just Saturday, and I still have 2 days to just relax and do the things I enjoy doing.

Here’s a photo of our bread shopping. I had my first Earl Grey Latte croughnut.

Life

Today, I became a ninang again. I lost track to how many godchildren I have already. 🙂 It is a privilege for me to be asked as a ninang because it means the parents want me to take part in their journey in bringing up their child. Since I became a Christian, it was my first time to really witness a dedication and be a part of it. And I was really blessed!

This is me and my kumare, Rhodes with Baby Rikhaela

After the dedication, my brother, Christian and I watched the movie, “Life of Pi”. It was interesting because I remembered when I was in highschool and college, some of my very close friends, well even until now calls me “Pay”, “Pi” and the Pi sign. So I felt like it is my movie. Hehehe… Just a little bit 😉 But anyway, I was totally clueless what the movie was all about. And I was amazed that the gospel was even shared in the movie. Really cool. I have many favorite parts in the film but I was struck by the last few conversations of Pi and the writer. The goal of Pi was not just to tell the story but to help the writer believe in God. At the last part, Pi asked the writer which version of the two stories did he believe. Then, the writer responded, it was the first one. Then Pi told him, it is the same with God. How I interpret it is that the writer wasn’t able to see what really happened in Pi’s journey. He wasn’t there. And he can’t really be sure that the first version was the real one. But he believed in Pi. Just like believing in God. 🙂

Lastly, God indeed speaks through others… I have received wisdom today from someone which I didn’t expect but was praying for it. Isn’t God amazing? He hears our prayers. He answers.

Good night. 🙂

Sunday

After the worship service at CCF, Nong Iman, Kim and I directly went to Podium Mall. Our schedule was to watch Step Up Revolution then dinner at Yakimix Eat All You Can Restaurant.

I’m a frustrated dancer (I must say). I love watching movies about dancing but I’ve never really danced. I’m not really sure I know how. But anyway, I’m a fan of Step Up movies and so I wouldn’t want to miss the new one. I must say, this is my so far favorite Step Up movie. The Mob themed movie really leveled up. My favorite mob dances were the ones at the art gallery and at the office building. Really cool! 😀

After the movie, we went to Yakimix for our dinner. I’ve been craving for Japanese rolls and Korean bbq. Yakimix was just the right place to satisfy those cravings. Jaja and Ebur joined us. We started at 5:30pm and went out from the place around 9pm. Haha!

I can’t wait to try another eat all you can place which they said is also good. Next time when my cravings will go back. For now, I need to finish my tea! 🙂

Full and happy Sunday. 🙂

Avengers

The long awaited movie!! Tonight was my “The Avengers” night. My friend and I watched the movie in an IMAX 3D theatre. Well, it’s really good that it is IMAX because of the big screen but the 3D glasses aren’t really necessary.

Anyway, the movie is sooooo awesome!! There’s this scene were they all gathered and did a pose. I wanted to have a picture with them! Haha!  I love the transition of every action scene. Some of the conversations were really funny. I must say, it was worth all the wait! 😀

Since the movie “Iron Man”, I’ve been a fan of the character of Tony Stark. And from all the avengers, he will always be my favorite!  How about you, who’s your favorite avenger?

Looking forward to a second movie!

Yemen

I watched the movie Salmon Fishing in Yemen tonight with Pang, Esther and Chris. The storyline is very interesting and a lot of insight in the movie.

What reminded me in the movie is the importance of having a vision. And to accomplish that vision, it has to be partnered with faith.

Great movie!
