I Do, I Do, I Do

Sometimes, the unexpected is just inevitable. Just to be clear, I did not get married. Not getting married anytime soon, either. Well, not yet… 😉

I was looking forward this year for my best friend, Rhodes’ wedding. Such an amazing story written by God! And, I’m just privileged to be able to witness that from Day 1. Their love story is a testament that indeed nothing is impossible with God. Nothing. 🙂

It was a blessing & truly an honor to be her maid of honor (MOH) and just to be able to help in whatever way I can up to her wedding day. I did not know that special event would somehow open little doors for me.

BBM39498That’s me, trying to be the “Maid of Honor” of the Year (lol)

I thought that was the only wedding I was going to witness this year. Now the story of the unexpected…

Two amazing ladies at our church, aka “The Verzosa Sisters” got married – different time, different place but same year, this year!

Few days after I got back from Philippines (after attending my bf’s wedding), Ria, one of the Verzosa sisters and I had our usual quick catching up after the worship service at church. This was days before her wedding. Who would have thought that our conversation would end up, me being the on-the-day wedding coordinator of her DIY wedding. When she said she didn’t have an on the day coordinator, my “event planning siren” just went off.  I kinda volunteered myself, there. 😉

I’ve never been to a DIY backyard wedding, nor coordinated one. Thank God for being a MOH and really saw the nitty-gritty of my best friend’s wedding. I had a great time executing all the details of the wedding, from the ceremony to the reception. Ria did a good job in planning her wedding, an event planner herself. 🙂 Being there to witness not just the wedding but really the celebration of love and family that whole weekend was already a blessing. But being able to help and be the on the day coordinator was a privilege. And I’m truly thankful for Ria & Miggy for just really trusting me to do that.

As I said, there’s another Verzosa sister. Months after Ria’s wedding was Frances’ wedding. And when she asked me if I could do the same for her wedding, how can I say No? It’s such an honor. This time, the wedding was a little bit DIY and mostly setup by the staff at the venue. So, I had to make sure that Frances’ plan for her wedding were properly executed which she also did a I great job. Very organized. A skill every bride needs to have. 😉

It was another fun experience for me. Thanks also to Frances & Christian for allowing me to help and for the trust! I had organized a couple of events but those were mostly seminar/conference type of events. I never thought wedding coordination could be this fun. My primary goal was to take off the stress from the bride on her wedding day and I hope I was able to achieve that!

It’s just amazing when door of opportunities  opened on such an unexpected season. Those experiences truly made an impact in my life this year. To have courage to just go and do it,  can indeed open to possibilities. I’m excited to more “on the day wedding coordinator” gigs. And I don’t mind doing it for free for all my friends who are getting married. So, if you need one, don’t hesitate. While it’s still of no charge… lol

At your service.

What is Christmas for you?

Christmas is a special time to remind us of what God did for us through Jesus Christ. As we tend to forget this in our normal day to day, I think God made it a point that we don’t have an excuse not to know or be reminded about it at least once a year.

Christmas is a celebration of Jesus. No more, no less.

What is it for you?

Celebrating Treinta (30)

I’d really like to celebrate this milestone in my life with my family. However, since I live away from them, I didn’t get to. But, last month, I had a chance to be will all of them, with my brother also back from UK, somehow, I still was able to spend my 30th in advance. 🙂

We went to to a beach resort in Dumaguete and also celebrated in advance my mom’s 60th since my brother has to go back to UK.  So grateful that we were able to get together!

I got to spend my birthday in advance with my disciples together with other April celebrants also (Kim and Glow). We had a picnic at Ayala Triangle in Makati. We just love celebrating birthdays! I’m so blessed to disciple these awesome ladies!

My dear friend and sister in Christ Nang Yan also came over to my place days before my birthday. She brought the cutest cake ever and the rest of the food! But, I was really touched when everyone in her family came over too. So grateful that they also joined in celebrating. Very blessed!

And on my BDAY! Haha! I had a morning walk and catch up with my jogging buddy Ann at Capitol Commons in Pasig, since we haven’t seen each other since her Holy Land tour. After which we had our breakfast in Starbucks which the staff really had nice and friendly service. Ann gave me a stone from the brook where Gideon was testing God and a very cute pair of earrings.

Funny thing happened, because my friend Rhodes called me when I was in Starbucks and asked me if I was already awake. I told her I was in Capitol Commons and she told me she was at my place. Haha! She planned to surprise me with my roommate, Kim as her accomplice but Kim failed to inform her I went out to jog. Haha! And so, she waited at my place until I got back.

That’s her waiting at the hallway. Haha! But, I still got surprised. We had plans for the night so I didn’t really expect she would do something like this. She brought a fully loaded breakfast with all my favorite!

The plan for the night was to go to the salon and get our hair cuts. I wanted a short hair and so I convinced her to get one too. And, no regrets! After that, we went to my favorite Korean convenience store to enjoy a Korean birthday meal. Too bad we didn’t have container for the seaweed soup. But still, we enjoyed! So grateful for Rhodes to celebrate it with me.

Looking forward for more celebrations with some more friends! Thank You Lord for the gift of relationships! Would be so sad to celebrate birthday alone… Praise God!

That is LOVE…

When my dad would take time to read my blogs and tell me how encouraged he was, that is love.

When my mom would make sure my benefits are taken care of while i’m unemployed, that is love.

When my brother would simply throw his usual jokes and made me laugh, that is love.

When my sister would continue to encourage me on this journey of waiting, that is love.

When my former colleagues would make time to see me, eat with me or chat with me, that is love.

When my friend would spend a weekday to watch a movie with me, that is love.

When my housemates would wash the dishes I left in the sink, that is love.

When my best friend would try to reach me through face time, that is love.

When my small group ladies would never fail to appreciate and express their gratitude, that is love.

When married couples choose to accept each other’s imperfections, that is love.

When a poor, little boy would ask a flower for Valentine’s Day that he can’t afford so that he could give it to his mom who passed away, that is love.

When guys are thoughtful enough to give gifts to single ladies on Valentine’s Day, that is love.

When people are generous enough with their time and effort to tell about God’s love to those who do not know about it, that is love.

When God gave His One and Only Son, Jesus and that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life, that is perfect LOVE.

May you experience love each day in different ways, doesn’t matter how simple or extravagant it will be expressed.

Happy Hearty Day everyone!

Beautifully 29

I just celebrated my 29th birthday a few hours ago.

I’m just wondering sometimes why a birthday has to be kept in secret;why some people are so shy telling others that it’s their birthday.

I love celebrating birthdays -either it’s mine or my family or friends. I just love to celebrate it. Not because of gifts or cakes, but because it’s an expression of being joyful for another blessed year that passed by. It’s celebrating life!

And yes, I love month-long birthdays! I mean, we get to celebrate it once a year, why not make it longer, right? 🙂 I dunno, it’s just really me. Somehow, it becomes an excuse just to be with the people who you don’t see for weeks or months and they just can’t say no cause it’s your birthday. 🙂

I had an awesome day today, despite of some issues at work. I just can’t let it rain on my birthday. 🙂 Since I don’t have my family here, I’m still blessed that I get to spend my day with my spiritual family, co-workers and close friends.

And of course, I got to blow my 29th candle. 🙂 What’s a birthday without a candle, right? Hehe… Just kidding!

Now, life going 30 is just beginning. I’m looking forward for 2 things this year. It’s between me and the Lord and some friends. 😉

I praise God for a fruitful 29th year!

Cheers!
