Never settle for LESS

I have failed for so many times, turning to the wrong choices and making impulsive decisions.  I would say to myself I won’t do it again, but still,  there are times that I would fail again. The wrong decisions I made were sometimes caused by being impatient, lack of prayers, and failure to seek God’s will.  These were the times that I only settled for less. I missed out on God’s best for me.

But then, there were times also that I learned to wait and trust on God and I really experienced the fullness of God’s blessing.

One good example was when I graduated from college and entered the job hunting journey. I’ve shared this story to different people already but I don’t mind sharing it again. 🙂

After graduation, I immediately moved to Cebu to apply for my first job. It was a very tough journey. I cried in buckets because of frustration and desperation. My classmates made it to interviews when I submitted also my application to the same companies. With this, I applied to companies which are not related to my field and the job is not the job I wanted. I was trying to settle for what’s easy that time, thinking that it’s just a first job anyway and I didn’t have any experience. So, I can’t be really choosy. However, God did something to wake me up from that lie.  In one of those companies, I was going through the application process and in the last phase of the process, I got lost in what I needed to do. While sitting at the front of the computer, I told myself, “This is not the job that I want to do.” From then on, I told God that I will not settle for just anything. I will only settle for what He has for me.

I reached to the point of surrender that I just let God took control moving forward. I laid out to God what I desired for my job – the position, the salary, the location. And indeed God never failed me. He is always faithful. He gave me the best job. It was the job I really wanted and the salary was what I prayed for.  However, His thoughts and ways are never the same as mine. I asked a job in Cebu but God moved me to Manila.  And where I am now, it’s because of the opportunities and experiences brought by that first job I had.

I never saw the big picture. I never saw the doors that would open. But God has plans. He makes things happen for a reason. He ALWAYS KNOWS what is BEST.

This is just one of my stories showing how truly worthy it is to wait on God’s best.

And now, as I am on my job hunting journey again for my second job, I realized that God’s best doesn’t have to happen in a surprising or spectacular way all the time. It just need to be in God’s perfect timing.

If you are in a point of your life right now that you are desperate and would just want to settle for just anything that will come, I hope that you would consider letting God bring to you to His best plan for you.

That’s what God desires for you. You just have to seek Him that you may know His will for you. God knows what you are going through and He cares for you. It’s up to you if you will let God. And I hope that you’ll do.

Never settle for anything less. Choose God and He will give you what’s best.

3 before 30

To be able to live for 30 years is a great gift from God. It’s definitely a milestone. All because of God’s goodness and faithfulness in my life.

Today, I have 3 days before I officially reach the age of 30.

I want to spend each day doing by doing some small acts of kindness to others that would allow me to share God’s love to them.

I pray that God would give me opportunities to do this starting today – April 20, 2014.

If there’s anything you can suggest, feel free.

God bless!

The Valentine’s Project

My discipleship group ladies suggested to make chocolates with messages to give away to our colleagues on Valentine’s Day.

Just like any special day, these are times that we can share the love of God to others. So we grabbed this opportunity to spread out God’s love through our time and effort in making goodies.

It was a long week of chocolate making and baking. We started on the Sunday before Feb. 14. The girls had so much fun as their creativity were challenged especially in designing some of the round chocolates.

We made chocolate hearts in lollipop sticks and smaller chocolate hearts. We used three colors – white, red and dark chocolate for variety. It was very easy to make as we just had to melt the bars and then put them into molders and let it hardened inside the refrigerator.

We printed out Bible verses to be attached to the chocolates after they were packed. These are the final products of our project.

We didn’t finish everything in one day and so I had to continue making more for the rest of the week. It was a very fun experience and we really hoped that the people who received those goodies felt they were much loved by us and by God.

That is LOVE…

When my dad would take time to read my blogs and tell me how encouraged he was, that is love.

When my mom would make sure my benefits are taken care of while i’m unemployed, that is love.

When my brother would simply throw his usual jokes and made me laugh, that is love.

When my sister would continue to encourage me on this journey of waiting, that is love.

When my former colleagues would make time to see me, eat with me or chat with me, that is love.

When my friend would spend a weekday to watch a movie with me, that is love.

When my housemates would wash the dishes I left in the sink, that is love.

When my best friend would try to reach me through face time, that is love.

When my small group ladies would never fail to appreciate and express their gratitude, that is love.

When married couples choose to accept each other’s imperfections, that is love.

When a poor, little boy would ask a flower for Valentine’s Day that he can’t afford so that he could give it to his mom who passed away, that is love.

When guys are thoughtful enough to give gifts to single ladies on Valentine’s Day, that is love.

When people are generous enough with their time and effort to tell about God’s love to those who do not know about it, that is love.

When God gave His One and Only Son, Jesus and that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life, that is perfect LOVE.

May you experience love each day in different ways, doesn’t matter how simple or extravagant it will be expressed.

Happy Hearty Day everyone!

Sweeter

In my quiet time this morning, God made me fall in love with Jesus much more.

My reading was on the latter part of Luke 5 and beginning of Luke 6 which talked about the Pharisees trying to question all the ways of Jesus – like eating with tax collectors and sinners, His disciples picking wheat on Sabbath and Jesus healing during Sabbath.

How Jesus responded to the Pharisees made me thank God more for who He is. I’m just grateful and very glad that Jesus did not come into this world bringing set of rigid rules and traditions but love, hope and forgiveness which allowed us to live a pleasing life for Him.

Just imagine a life full of strict rules and traditions to be followed so that we could attain perfection and be with God. One – it is very impossible, Second – it would be very exhausting, and Third -it is pointless and useless. We will never be with God for eternity.

God’s love is so powerful and compelling that once we accept it through Jesus Christ, there’s no other way but to respond to it, not out of force but of free will. Not that we don’t do the right things and follow His commandments, but we do it not out of striving for perfection but out of our love for God. It’s an act of obedience resulted from love and not from a scary thought of hell.

Indeed, life is sweeter and better each day when I walk with Jesus even if it gets tougher sometimes. True enough, it is only with Jesus that I am able to experience a full, complete and abundant life – full of hope, peace, joy and love.

Thank You Jesus for a sweeter life. 🙂

This is my song for today! 🙂
