Until One Day

In my quiet time reading today, I was reading about a rich, young man who asked Jesus the most important question anyone can ask,

“What shall I do to inherit eternal life?” (Luke 18:18)

As I reflect on it, it made me look back of how my life was before.

Before I came to know who Jesus really is and really have a personal relationship with Him, everything written in the Bible are merely stories for me. It didn’t have any meaning in my life. I didn’t know back then what was really the end goal of having faith. For what?

Until one day, I started asking myself what is really the purpose of doing all the religious activities I did growing up.

Until one day, I realize my sinfulness.

Until one day, I became personal with God. I became curious about Him. Who He really is. Why do I need to pray to Him? I don’t even see Him.

All those “concepts” I learned about God became truth to me. And not just simply truth, they became true in my life. The Bible started having meaning in my life – all the way from Genesis to Revelation.

Eternal Life? I never knew that would be true. That’s only for characters I see on television. You know, those who never die. Superheroes. Vampires. But that’s not God’s idea of eternal life. It’s incomparable.

As I continued to seek God and what Jesus did for me, I was opened to the truth. God created eternal life. And it has always been His plan. It started at the Garden of Eden. Before men fell into sin.

You might be in the same place I was more than a decade ago. Knowing but not really understanding. Doing but not really knowing the reason for it. Going on with life, thinking as long as everything seems to be going well, life is good.

I can’t convince you just like other people wasn’t able to convince me about the truth of the Bible. The truth of Jesus. The truth of eternal life. Only God can really do the work. But because I opened my heart to Him. I allowed Him to reveal the truth to me.  I was changed. And it will always be the best decision I have made in my life.

There’s a big difference with just knowing… it should be knowing Him & experiencing Him – His love, His forgiveness, His goodness, His mercy, His grace, His holiness. That my friend is life-changing.

I pray that you will give God a chance if you haven’t. What can you really lose?

Just like that rich, young man, for sure you have a lot of questions also. Give God a chance to answer it. Start with an open mind and heart.

#CEOgoals

It all starts with a dream.  My motivation to do the more important things is because of a bigger vision. However, how God will take me there is what I am more interested in. Being a result-oriented person, my perception has been slowly changed on what matters most. The journey is more important than the destination. How I will be transformed, disciplined, prepared and pruned is what I am looking forward to. The results will be results. My dream of becoming a CEO someday may or may not happen but the journey will definitely happen. I can’t wait to see how will God work in me, He who is the CEO of my life.

Why made you?

At the Bible study I attended today, I was just amazed and still am as we watched the video about the murmuration of starling birds. I’m so amazed how the birds behave in such a manner, doing communication and just be in synch in their movements.

It would really be great to figure out how they do it but at times it’s just enough to know that it does happen, it is meant to happen, it’s designed to happen.

Same goes with our life. God created us because we were meant to be created for His purpose, His design. And there are really times that we ask God why certain things happen in our life, why He is allowing us to go through certain flights. And most of the time, He does not give us all the answers. We just have to take a step of faith and make sure we are in sycnh with God’s plans for us.

If God designed even just the feathers of the birds with intricate details, how much more His design for His favorite creation – man? We sometimes forget that God cares for every small detail in our life. Nothing is a waste in God’s design.

Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. (‭Luke‬ ‭12‬:‭6-7‬ NIV)

Question is, how much do you know the One who made and designed you? Until you know the heart of the One who made you, then you will only know the purpose of why you were made.

My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. (‭Psalm‬ ‭139‬:‭15-16‬ NIV)

I MISS YOU

I’m just thankful to the person who created the Timehop application. It’s an application that will feed your Facebook photos and statuses from 5 years ago until last year. I just like it so much because it reminds me of good memories from home.

And yes, I’m really missing home. I miss my family. I miss my friends and Manila discipleship group. I miss my friends from my previous company. I miss my favorite hang out places – Kapitolyo, Korean convenience store at Ortigas, Megamall, Powerplant Mall, California Garden Square.

Since I got back from my last assignment in 2012, April 2012 to May 2014 I believe are the most unforgettable years of my stay in Manila. These are my pruning years and never thought my last years in Manila. But as I look back, I am just glad that I really made the most in spending and investing time with people. I can not go back anymore. But I can always look back not having what ifs.

And that’s the reason why I miss home so much. I left at a time when there was so much growing, so much relationship building, so much learning.

I’m excited of how much people have changed when I go home next year for vacation. It’s a sad reality that people move on with their lives without me being part of it. However, I know that when I go home, I still have that spot in their lives just as they have in mine. That’s what’s comforting.

Our life here on earth is only meaningful when we invest our life not on things that moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. We truly never know where the next years would take us, but surely, when we invest our life on people, regardless of where we are, that’s what make living more purposeful.

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.” Matthew 6:19

I got everything I need, I don’t need God…

As I ride the sky train or walk in the mall, I see a lot of lost souls.  And it really breaks my heart.

I keep asking God, “How can I tell them about Jesus?”

In this era of materialism, most of us define a life of meaning and success based on what we have – wealth, career, fame.  And if someone has all of those, then really, why would that person need God?  If everything is going very well, then, what is God for?

It’s a point missed. BIG time.

If God allowed me to be born in this lifetime to survive, be successful and accomplished, do whatever I want, but then die eventually , if death will just make everything in vain, then what is really the point of living?

We missed the point. Truth is, until we truly know who God is and His great plan for all of us, we will realize that our life here on earth is not just about living a “good” life. No matter how great our life here is, if our mindset is only focused on what is temporary, we will never realize how much we truly need God in our life.

Nothing wrong with having a prosperous life. But everything becomes meaningless when we only live for this life time. It’s like watching a movie that has no ending. All you can say is, “That’s it?”

I don’t want to live that kind of life. I want to be excited for the life after this lifetime. I want to look forward to that “eternal life” that God said in the Bible. Jesus said in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, He gave His Only Son, that whoever believes in His Son will not perish but will have eternal life.”

Life becomes purposeful when you accept the truth that this is not just it. There’s more. And we can only experience that through the Lord Jesus Christ, God’s Only Son.

If you haven’t experienced God in your life, I pray that you will be able to open your heart to Him. I pray that you will not miss out what lies ahead. I pray that you will live an abundant life in the presence of God.

If you want to know more about God, let me know and I would love to talk about it with you.

God bless!
